Meta-Cognition
We had to use collective meta-cognition in our groups for the Quest for Refuge project especially when going through the editing process. We had to evaluate all of the edits we received from classmates and our teacher and be able to accept these edits as not being harsh criticisms of our video but mindful suggestions. which had the sole purpose of developing our video to reach its final goal as an informative and inspirational video. As authors we had to do our best to keep from being too attached to certain parts of our video because you must be open to change of all aspects of your video. The author can be blind to unneeded parts of his or her video in which revisions from other people can show the author what should be taken out or shortened. We experienced this when deciding whether Victor should discuss how he got a cactus stuck in his foot and the people he was with carried him through the desert. I thought this was extremely powerful but most people thought it was not important enough and didn't add anything to the story so we decided to listen to the advice and take it out. I was able to accept this advice because I trust the people that I am working with. Also after reviewing people's comments and then stepping back and reviewing the clip again the revisions always seemed to positively affect the audiences understanding of the message I was trying to convey
